ABG International – Enhanced lifting for faster builds

ABG International uses the WL2C Winch Lifter to safely raise heavy parts and modules when building their machines. It handles laminators and turn bar assemblies with ease, reducing manual handling risks and allowing one operator to complete lifts that once required two people and a forklift.

Customer

ABG International is a world‑leading manufacturer of label and packaging technology, recognised for its innovation and engineering excellence. Operating across two UK sites, the company produces high‑performance machinery used by major brands throughout the print and converting industry. They are an existing customer, following the successful purchase and use of our reel lifters.
Challenge

During machine assembly ABG International needed a safer and more efficient way to lift heavy parts, including laminators and turn bar assemblies. These modules were often at the limit of safe manual handling and previously required two people and a forklift.

Solution

Having reviewed the options with them, we concluded a winch lifter was the answer, with a 2-metre lifting range 125kg SWL.  ABG introduced the WL2C Winch Lifter with Crane Extended Boom to support lifting heavy parts and modules during machine builds. Its compact, manoeuvrable design with superior vertical placement due to its geared winch, allows precise positioning even in busy production areas.

Outcome

Since introducing the hoist, ABG has seen:

  • One‑person operation for tasks previously needing two
  • Reduced manual handling risks
  • Less reliance on forklifts
  • Better access thanks to compact, manoeuvrable design
  • Real time and resource savings across production

What our clients say

“It is a great piece of equipment, and in daily use.

The way it has improved our production is in removing some of the manual handling hazards when building our machines.

The hoists are manoeuvrable so can easily be used in and around a busy production area. The feet are small enough to fit under the modules which gives more access to lift things into place.

Lots of lifting tasks the used to require two people and a forklift are now being carried out by one person which has obvious time and resource saving benefits as well as the obvious safety benefits.

A good measure of how successful the hoist has been, other departments across both sites are asking why they have not got one and are demanding one of their own!”
