Butternut Box's packaging process involves labelling the finished goods, and therefore handling a large reel of label stock for consumption.
Their requirement was for a piece of lifting and handling equipment that could handle 800mm reels weighing up to 300kg, specifically requiring the ability to pick up these reels from a pallet.
(Most generic reel lifters on the market are restricted by their trolley size, making them unable to retrieve reels from pallets, especially those with reinforced rungs or closed-bottom designs.)
Recognising the limitations of standard reel lifters, we worked closely with Butternut Box to design a bespoke solution. The custom reel lifter we developed was engineered to handle reels with a diameter of up to 1500mm and 400kg SWL.
A key feature of the design was the inclusion of a wide straddle trolley, which could accommodate up to a full UK pallet size.
This bespoke reel lifter effectively addressed Butternut Box's specific requirements, allowing them to pick up reels directly from pallets with ease.
The wide straddle trolley design overcame the common limitations of generic reel lifters, providing a versatile and reliable handling solution. The lifter's user-friendly design also improved safety and enhanced operational efficiency, reducing the time and effort required for reel handling.
